The Red Lion is a 3-Star former Coaching Inn,

dating back to the early 1800s.

Today, it continues to be a popular watering hole

between Jedburgh and Edinburgh.

Sitting at the heart of this friendly village, overlooking

the peaceful village square, The Red Lion provides a

comfortable base for exploring the Scottish Borders.

Like the rest of his team, landlord Ritchie is an Earlstonian,

and happy to point guests in the direction of

local walks and visitor attractions.

Traditional Scottish breakfasts with haggis, black pudding, and tattie scones. Lighter options also available.

Free Wifi

Free Wifi is available in

the bar, lounge, private dining room, and

guest rooms.

Lunch and Dinner

Hearty pub fare including

mouth-watering burgers, steak and ale pie, lamb hotpot, and haddock and chips with homemade tartare sauce.

Dogs Welcome

Dogs welcome in the bar

and in guest rooms.

Doggy welcome pack for overnight guests.

An impressive collection of gin and whiskies to complement the draft ales, and the wine list.

Welcome tray.

Rooms cleaned daily. Hairdryer, iron, and ironing board available on request.

Each of the eight bedrooms is individually styled and has an en suite bath or shower room, digital TV, tea/coffee-making facilities, and free Wi-Fi.

There is a range of rooms including: single, double twin, super-king, and a spacious, south-facing, triple room,

which overlooks the village square.

The Tweed offers some of the best salmon fishing in the world. 1st Feb to 30th Nov.

My wife and I stayed at the Red Lion for a short holiday (3 nights). We found the hotel to be perfect for our needs. Staff were friendly, room spacious, bed very comfortable and toilet and shower easily accessible.

The people I met during my stay were friendly and great ambassadors for Earlston. From the owner of The Sweet Shop who spoke to me for 15mins about the town, the owner of the Aquarius hairdressers who gave me a haircut at short notice to the staff in the Chemist who sold me Walks around Earlston an excellent book for walkers of all abilities.
